SEA Unicorns Series – Lazada’s e-commerce battle in Southeast Asia

Lazada is one of Southeast Asia’s biggest e-commerce platforms. Launched in 2012, it covers six countries and serves a diverse range of customers. In 2016, Chinese e-commerce giant, Alibaba, acquired a controlling stake in Lazada. Equipped with Alibaba’s cash injections totalling four billion U.S. dollars, Lazada is now unstoppable in its expansion and investment across Southeast Asia, one of the fastest-growing regions in the world. Lazada Group’s CEO Pierre Poignant takes CGTN reporter Miro Lu back to where his journey started, at the heart of logistics in a fulfilment centre.
